An "Official" Radiation Forecast From the U.N.

After days of waiting, we now have an “official” forecast of the Japanese radiation plume’s pathway; the UN’s Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization on Tuesday created a forecast of the plume’s pathway which was obtained by the New York Times and just published. It is not an actual map of radiation data, (similar to my post yesterday detailing maps from an Austrian group), but it seems to be the most accurate information we have so far. You can access the interactive image from the New York Times article here (Forecast for Plume’s Path Is a Function of Wind and Weather); below is their map forecast for March 18th, showing a bit of very low-level radiation hitting lower California and Alaska’s Aleutian islands; they say this radiation level “at worst, would have extremely minor health consequences in the United States, even if hints of it are ultimately detectable”.
